Apiosordaria verruculosa is a heterothallic fungus belonging to the Podosporaceae family (1,2). It is frequently found in soil throughout the world or occasionally on dung or leaves. It produces typical warty ascospores, hence its name. It produces a Cladorrhinum-like asexual state. The sequenced strain is a homokaryotic F1 progeny of the fertile strain CBS 315.58 that was collected in Australia.
