The genome sequence and gene models of Bathycoccus prasinos have not been determined by the JGI, but were downloaded from NCBI, on March 27, 2018. In order to allow comparative analyses with other genomes sequenced by the Joint Genome Institute, a copy of this genome is incorporated into the JGI Genome Portal. Please note that this copy of the genome is not maintained by NCBI and is therefore not automatically updated.

Bathycoccus prasinos

Bathycoccus prasinos is a non-motile picoplanktonic algal species. Cells contain a chloroplast, a mitochondria, a nucleus and a Golgi complex that are tightly packed within the cell. The cells possess a characteristic scaly covering. It is about size of a bacterium and is common in northern Atlantic ocean.
