The Cyanophora paradoxa CCMP329 genome assembly and gene models have not been determined by the JGI, but were downloaded from the publication supplemental datashare (cyanophora.rutgers.edu) on September 25, 2019. Please note that this copy of the genome is not maintained by Rutgers University and is therefore not automatically updated. In order to allow comparative analyses with other algal genomes sequenced by the JGI, a copy of this genome is incorporated into PhycoCosm. The JGI Annotation Pipeline was used to add functional annotation to this genome.

Cyanophora paradoxa CCMP329

Cyanophora paradoxa (Archaeplastida, Phylum Glaucophyta, Class Cyanophoraceae) is important for study of evolution of land plants and photosynthesis. This improved assembly of the first Glaucophyta genome published, represents a distinct clade in Archaeplastida separate from Rhodophyta and Viridiplantae. Glaucophytes have retained several plastid traits associated with the ancestral cyanobacterial endosymbiont that have been lost in other Archaeplastida.
