The metagenome-assembled genome of Micromonas sp. AD1 and gene models were not determined by the Joint Genome Institute (JGI), but were provided by Anthony Duncan and Thomas Mock. The datasets are available on Figshare. In order to allow comparative analyses with other algal genomes sequenced by the JGI, a copy of this genome is incorporated into PhycoCosm. The JGI Annotation Pipeline was used to add functional annotation to this genome.

Micromonas is a genus of green algae (Chlorophyta) in the family Mamiellaceae which are distributed worldwide. Micromonas sp. AD1 was isolated from an upper ocean sample collected on the RV ‘Polarstern’ expedition in June/July 2012 (ARK-XXVII/1). The metagenome was obtained from the chlorophyll a maximum layer enriched (size range 1.2 – 100 µm) for species associations (microbiomes) with focus on pico- and nanophytoplankton and their associated heterotrophic bacteria (Duncan et al. 2022). This genome was recovered from a sample taken from the Fram Strait at approximately 79°N.
