The Picocystis sp. ML genome sequence has not been determined by the JGI, but was downloaded from NCBI (GCA_003665715.1) on October 1, 2019. Gene models were provided by Bradley Stevenson, University of Oklahoma. Please note that this copy of the genome is not maintained by NCBI or Dr. Stevenson, and is therefore not automatically updated. In order to allow comparative analyses with other algal genomes sequenced by the JGI, a copy of this genome is incorporated into PhycoCosm. The JGI Annotation Pipeline was used to add functional annotation to this genome.

Picocystis sp. ML

This microalga (Archaeplastida, Viridiplantae, Phylum Chlorophyta, Class Picocystophyceae) was collected from an algal bloom, depth 20 meters, in the hypersaline Mono Lake in Cailfornia. Picocystis sp. ML is considered a close relative of Picocystis salinarum, the primary producer in the lake, believed to be photosynthetically active at low-light depths.
