The Chara braunii S276 genome sequence and gene models have not been determined by the JGI, but were downloaded from ORCAE on September 23, 2019. Please note that this copy of the genome is not maintained by ORCAE and is therefore not automatically updated. In order to allow comparative analyses with other algal genomes sequenced by the JGI, a copy of this genome is incorporated into PhycoCosm. The JGI Annotation Pipeline was used to add functional annotation to this genome.
Chara braunii S276
This algal genome (Archaeplastida, Phylum Streptophyta, Class Charophyceae) genome is important for the study of the evolution of land plants. The Charophyceae, Coleochaetophyceae, and Zygnematophyceae are among the closest living relatives of land plants (Embryophytes). Chara braunii has a complex morphology and a notable 1.7 Gigabase genome.
